From the Director …………
Brrrr! What a winter! Even in the frigid cold, though, the
beauty of
Tower Grove Park rewards our visitors. The tall trunks and
bare
branches of the trees against the winter sky, the dark green
of our several
varieties of conifers, the lingering red fruits of the
native winterberry, and the brave green leaves of our hollies
and
magnolias.
A different but equally compelling beauty has been unfolding
with the
Friends’ response to the 2009 Year End Appeal. The support
for this
excellent project to restore the Fountain Pond and Ruins has
been
heartwarming and encouraging to all of us who work at the
Park. Not
only have the Friends given generously, they have also given
in very
impressive numbers. The percentage of positive responses exceeds
that
for any comparable fundraising appeal we have seen.
Back in August, the Board made a generous pledge to this challenge
campaign from Emerson based upon an optimistic prediction
of your
response to this Year End Appeal. Your generosity has exceeded
this
pledge by several thousand dollars. So, again, congratulations
and
thanks!
See you in the Park.
