| What are you thankful for? |

My 5-year-old daughter brought home
a placemat she proudly made in art class.
The feathers of a paper turkey, brightly
adorned in crayon, with the three things
she is most thankful for. My first child,
her first opportunity to sing my praises
as a great Mom, I thought. Instead it
said "Water, McDonalds and Aunt Beth".
(Sigh) It's the day I truly learned to
share. - Michelle Bettis Ankoviak

| City Corner going to the dogs |

This week on City
Corner host Steve Potter interviews author
Carol
Porter
about her new book "How the Yorkie
Rescued Santa" which features her
pet Yorkshire Terrier Oliver (above).
Pet lovers will enjoy this week’s episode
of City
Corner. Host Steve Potter interviews
author Carol Porter about her new book "How
the Yorkie Rescued Santa." Also,
Cyndi Mason, adoption center director
for the Humane Society of Missouri,
talks about their pet adoption program
and issues related to the ongoing problem
of puppy mills in the state.
A pet lover herself, Carol Porter returns
to City Corner to talk about her new
book, which features her dog Oliver.
Originally written as a gift for two
of her close friends, it developed, she
said, into a children’s book. “It has
enough adult humor that everyone can
enjoy it,” she noted. Porter is a local
author whose earlier book, “Meeting Louie
at the Fair,” won the 2008 Osmund Overby
Award from Missouri Preservation. It
is the story of St. Louis architect Louis
C. Spiering, who helped design the 1904
St. Louis World’s Fair. Before dying
of cancer eight years later, Spearing
last commission was the Sheldon Concert
Hall.
In another episode of City Corner also
airing this week, host Ivy Hartman talks
with Jim Trotter about his new book, "The
Best of St. Louis" featuring his
original photography.

| Are
you a victim of violence? |
Pathways to Healing is created by and
for survivors of violent acts with the
goal of helping them successfully transition
from victim to survivor. Abuse of any

what happens to their bodies and their
lives. What victims need most is compassionate
medical care, a safe community to share
their stories and the tools they need
to reclaim control over their bodies
and their lives.
Are you struggling to put your life back
together after devastating abuse? Tune
in to Pathways to Healing for helpful
resource information. The monthly health
news program currently airs on STL TV,
