The St. Louis Softball League will begin its fourth season on Sunday, April 9. Sponsored by the St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry, leagues will be offered in Forest Park (Aviation and Central Fields) and at several south city fields. League games will be scheduled from Sunday through Friday. All single game leagues will consist of 12 game seasons. Doubleheader leagues will consist of 24 game seasons.
Starting times on all non-lighted fields and all Sunday leagues will be on the hour (for example, 5 p.m., 6 p.m., 7 p.m.). On lighted fields, Monday through Friday games will start on the half-hour (6:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m.) There is no grace period. The entry fee for the spring seassion depends on the field used and if it is the single or doubleheader league. To see the list of fees, click on "information." The St. Louis Softball League will supply game balls, score books, ASA rulebooks, schedules, tournament announcements and roster sheets to all of the teams in their leagues.
Teams that play in the St. Louis Softball League need to be aware that glass bottles (of any kind) are not allowed at or near the fields. This is in accordance with City Ordinance #76522. Teams that do not abide by this rule will forfeit their games! This is a safety issue and will be enforced at all times. Teams that play on Aviation Field in Forest Park need to be aware that coolers of any kind, buckets and packaged beer/liquor (opened or not) are also not permitted. Teams that do not abide by this rule will forfeit their games! However, teams are allowed to bring a one gallon (or smaller) thermos as long as it does not contain beer/alcohol. Teams that play on Central Field in Forest Park or at any of the South City fields can bring coolers/containers to their games, but the glass bottle rule is still in effect. In all situations, the manager/coach should police their team members to insure that this does not need to become an issue! Teams should also clean their bench when their game(s) are completed. For more information and a complete list of the leagues, night, category and field that the various leagues will use and the application form, click on St. Louis Softball League. To reserve a spot in a particular category on a particular evening, teams need to send a non-refundable $100 check, money order or cashier’s check made payable to City of St. Louis – St. Louis Softball League (S.L.S.L.). Payment should be mailed with a completed application form (Click on application and print it) by 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 27 to the following address: St. Louis Softball League
Teams can still apply after Jan. 27 but are required to send the full payment along with the completed application. The deadline for all spring/summer 2006 applications is 5 p.m. Friday, March 24. There are no refunds. Leagues are formed on a first come, first served basis.
