The St. Louis Department of Parks, Recreation and Forestry provides the amenities that make the city a good place to live, work and play.

The Parks Division's 105 parks serve as the anchor for city neighborhoods. They are gathering spots for neighbors to meet --- at playgrounds, summer concerts, picnics, ball games, tennis courts and lakes. Walkers and runners, bikers and bladers and dogs and their owners crowd the paths and sidewalks. And they can be a quiet oasis in the heart of the city.

The Recreation Division offers free access to eight swimming pools and eight recreation centers ... and runs camps in summer, helps students with homework in winter and sponsors sports for youths all year long.

The Forestry Division is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all St. Louisans by enhancing and maintaing the surrounding environment. It plants the trees that make city streets come alive with colors in the spring and fall and provide shade in summer.

Jewel Box
More than 12 million residents and visitors to St. Louis each year visit the jewel of the Parks Department, Forest Park. The host site of the 1904 World's Fair, the park epitomizes the diverse recreational, cultural and historical attractions available to city residents through its many facilities and institutions.
Sitting in the heart of downtown St. Louis, Kiener Plaza and the Morton D. May Amphitheater command a dramatic view of the Old Court House and the Gateway Arch. It is the home of Cardinal and Ram rallies and victory parties, concerts, weddings and the place where workers escape their offices for lunch and relaxation.
