Asthma Resources: The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter
 
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, St. Louis Chapter, serves those affected by asthma and allergies through education, support, and medical resources. Asthma is the most common chronic disease of childhood and is a particular threat to children living in the inner cities. Additionally, asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism due to chronic illnes (about 10 million lost school days each year). In St. Louis, estimates are that approximately 15% of children under age 18 suffer from asthma. This is well above the national average of 6.3%
Assistance Programs/Services
No fee is charged for any service provided by The Asthma and Allergy Foundation, St. Louis Chapter.
  • Project Concern provides prescription assistance to uninsured/underinsured children. It provides life-saving asthma/allergy resources (medicines and equipment) to children and young adults up to the age of 21 who might be uninsured or have partial insurance not covering all their presciption needs.   • ABC's of Asthma is a program that offers asthma management education to schools and other organizations interested in learning about the symptoms, triggers & treatment of asthma. Asthma does not have to be a confining disease. Learn about asthma and its proper management. Asthma informational materials are available to the community. To schedule free informational sessions, please contact the AAFA office at (314) 645-2422.
  • Asthma and Allergy Essentials for Child Care Providers is a course designed to educate child care providers on how to care for children with asthma/allergies and provide a safe and healthy environment for children with these chronic diseases. The course offers clock-hour certificates to participants. For a schedule of upcoming classes, please contact the AAFA office at (314) 645-2422.
