Comptroller Darlene Green serves as the chief fiscal officer of the City of St. Louis and is a member of the executive branch of City government and the Board of Estimate and Apportionment. Comptroller Green - a city-wide elected official - directs her staff to assist in daily operations, fiscal and economic development strategies of the City.
The City Charter states that the Comptroller shall head the Department of Finance (Comptroller, Assessor, Collector of Revenue, Treasurer, and Supply Division) and exercise general supervision over its divisions, all fiscal affairs of the City, property, assets, claims, and the disposition thereof.
Students from the 2009 A Green Tree Academy class gathered after felling a dead white pine tree in Forest Park. The urban forestry students used chain saws, pole saws and a chipper to safely and professionally take the 80 ft. tree down, removing a safety hazard from the park. Comptroller Green started the academy in 2007.
